Department of Radiation Oncology

The Department of Radiation Oncology of Dicle University Faculty of Medicine began in 1989 by opening its first resident positions and having the relevant residents receive their training at the Oncology Institute of Istanbul University. In 1994, the foundations of the Radiation Oncology treatment unit were laid, and the Radiotherapy unit—consisting of a Linear Accelerator, Co-60, a Simulator and treatment planning—began admitting its first patients as of August 2001, and on 20.10.2014 began to provide service with a TomoTherapy device. The first and founding faculty member of our Department is Prof. Dr. Seyit Burhanedtin ZİNCİRCİOĞLU. The treatment unit of our Department of Radiation Oncology at Dicle University Faculty of Medicine is also of particular importance, as it is the first Radiation Oncology treatment unit established in the Southeastern Anatolia Region of our country.
