Dicle University Faculty of Medicine Department of General Surgery

The Chair of General Surgery, which began to provide services affiliated with Ankara University Faculty of Medicine in 1969, was established by Prof. Dr. Asım Duman, and began service in the building currently used as the Oral and Dental Diseases hospital. With the establishment of Dicle University in 1974, services continued in the same location affiliated with this university. In 1982, it moved to its current location, where it continues to operate as what is now the Dicle University Faculty of Medicine Hospital. It still continues to serve a very wide area in the region, particularly the neighboring provinces, in the same location. Since its first establishment, teachers such as Dr. Mustafa Türeli, Dr. Bülent Alıç, Dr. İsmail Kayabalı, Dr. Mehmet Gürel, Dr. Yılmaz Akgün, Dr. Nedim Aban and Dr. Şükrü Boylu have served our clinic and have left our clinic on various occasions. Our teachers Dr. Celalettin KELEŞ and Dr. Bilsel BAÇ, who served as faculty members and Head of the Department in our clinic for many years, have retired. To date, the number of General Surgery specialists who have completed their specialty training in our clinic has exceeded 180. In our clinic, we provide services with a 60-bed ward and a 10-bed intensive care unit. Services are carried out with 9 faculty members.
