The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology of Dicle University Faculty of Medicine was established in 1977 by Prof. Dr. Fikret Öner. Until 1980, it continued its service with faculty members in the form of 3-month rotations from other universities. In 1980, under the chairmanship of Prof. Dr. Orhan Erman, our university—which had moved to the current new service building—strengthened its educational staff after this date and began patient services and education in the field of obstetrics and gynecology.

Department's Fields of Work

In the department, certain hours are allocated to education every Wednesday and Thursday each week. Within the framework of the established program, it is carried out in the form of seminars, case presentations, article presentations, monthly morbidity/mortality and statistics meetings, joint obstetrics-pediatrics meetings, and advanced-level theoretical resident lectures. In our department, all kinds of work and procedures that are part of obstetrics and gynecology practice are performed—high-risk pregnancy/perinatology, gynecology/gynecological oncology/urogynecology, and endoscopic interventions (Except In-Vitro Fertilization (IVF) Procedures)

Information About the Students' Clerkship

In our department, undergraduate education is provided to Term III, IV and Term VI students of the Faculty of Medicine, along with specialty training to the specialty students who arrive through the Medical Specialty Examination (TUS). During their 6-week training, Term IV students are given, in addition to theoretical lectures, laboratory courses, bedside educational rounds and practical training in the operating room/delivery room. At the end of the sixth week, an examination is held for the clerkship

Research Assistant Training Process

Admission is through the Medical Specialty Examination (TUS). In each April and/or September TUS period, 4-6 research assistants are admitted. The training period of research assistants is 4 years. During the specialty training, rotations in Anesthesia, General Surgery, Urology and Pathology are carried out
