DEPARTMENT OF FORENSIC MEDICINE

The Faculty of Medicine, opened in 1966, completed its establishment with Law No. 1054, which came into force on 03.07.1968, and in 1969 it transferred its students to Diyarbakır and continued its teaching and education here.

The Faculty of Medicine was later affiliated with Diyarbakır University, established by the Law enacted on 21.11.1973. When Diyarbakır University took the name 'Dicle University' pursuant to Article 32 of the decree having the force of law No. 41 dated 20.07.1982, the Faculty of Medicine continued its education and training as Dicle University Faculty of Medicine. While its own construction was ongoing on the University campus, which was formerly 15 kilometers away from the city center, the Faculty of Medicine carried out its activities, through protocols, in the buildings and hospitals belonging to the Ministries of National Education and Health in the city center, and at the end of 1981 it moved to its own building, which is in use today. Thanks to the road and bridge built in the Fiskaya area, the distance to the city center was also reduced to 3 kilometers.

Department's Purpose of Activity

1. Education and Training Activities

The Forensic Medicine clerkship in term 4 of the Faculty of Medicine, Health and Law in term 1, health law in term 2, the Faculty of Law, the Forensic Medicine courses at the AMYO (Vocational School), and the Forensic Medicine courses at the Faculty of Dentistry are taught by the lecturers of the Department.

2. Research and Development Activities

Deaths due to firearms and electrocution. Forensic thesis studies are ongoing, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Cem UYSAL is the forensic project manager.

3. Practice and Service Activities

Our Forensic Medicine outpatient clinic provides services.
