In 1983, it began service at its current location, affiliated with the Department of Internal Medicine of Dicle University Faculty of Medicine, under the chairmanship of Prof. Dr. Salih Yıldırım. In 1993, it separated from the Department of Internal Medicine and the Department of Cardiology was established by Prof. Dr. Salih Yıldırım.

Medical Student Education

A total of … hours of cardiology term courses are given to medical students, comprising 24 hours in Term III and 52 hours of theory plus … hours of practice in Term IV. For Term IV students, cardiac examination, bedside training and clinical practice in small groups in the cardiology laboratories are carried out by our faculty members. Courses given in Term III and Term IV: Introduction to Cardiology, Physical Examination, Atherosclerosis and Acute Coronary Syndromes, Heart Failure, Rheumatic Valve Diseases, Hypertension, Pulmonary Hypertension, Electrocardiography, Arrhythmias, Aortic Diseases, Syncope, Hypotension and Cardiogenic Shock

Research Assistant Process

According to the determined quota, 1-3 candidates per year are admitted to the Department of Cardiology as research assistants based on their Medical Specialty Examination (TUS) scores. Within the framework of the pre-specialty training program, a 12-month internal medicine rotation is carried out. A knowledge and skills examination is administered in each year of the pre-specialty training, and at the end of the 4th year the specialty examination is administered.
