History of Turkish Islamic Arts course is taught in our faculty within the Department of History of Turkish Islamic Arts. The aims of this course are: to have knowledge about the definitions of art made by some researchers and to learn the features that should be found in a work of art, to comprehend Islam's view of art and aesthetics, to know the hadiths used as evidence for and against depiction in Islam and to learn that there are different opinions and practices on this subject, to have knowledge about Islam's view of ancient civilizations, cities, historical artifacts and archeology. In addition, it is important to recognize the character and nature of Islamic art, to learn the factors affecting the development of Islamic art, to learn the leading architectural works of art and architecture of the Hulefâ-i Râşidîn, Umayyads, Andalusian Umayyads, Ghaznavids, Qarakhanids, Great Seljuks, Anatolian Seljuks, Principalities and Ottoman period from the time of the Prophet and to have knowledge about the general character and characteristics of these periods.
