Department of Family Medicine

The Department of Family Medicine was established on July 8, 1995, within the Department of Internal Medicine. The Department admitted its first assistant through the April 1995 TUS (Medical Specialty Examination).

The chairmanship of the Department was held by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nizamettin TOPRAK between 1995-1997, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Emin YILMAZ between 1997-2001, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. İsmail Hamdi KARA between 2001 and January 2009. Since 2009, the chairmanship of the Department has been carried out by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tahsin ÇELEPKOLU.

Our Mission

To provide comprehensive and continuous health care to individuals in need of medical attention, regardless of age, gender, or disease.
To offer services within the context of patients' own families, communities, and cultures while respecting their decisions.
To enhance the skills and values of healthcare professionals in delivering effective and safe health care.
To provide comprehensive and multifaceted training to residents, research assistants, and interns, enabling them to cope with all kinds of patients and issues they may encounter in primary healthcare institutions where they will work in the future.
To plan and propose solutions for research and practices in line with the needs of our country and the healthcare sector.

To be there alongside individuals in all health matters and their relationships with other healthcare providers.
To deliver an efficient team service by effectively utilizing healthcare resources.

Currently, the Department has three faculty members and forty-two assistants.
