Department of Biostatistics and Medical Informatics

Department of Biostatistics and Medical Informatics

The Department of Biostatistics at Dicle University Faculty of Medicine started its education in 1969 with the transfer of students from Ankara University Faculty of Medicine to Diyarbakır. Our department was established in 1995 by Prof. Dr. M. Yusuf ÇELİK. Within the medical faculties in our country, the Department of Biostatistics was first established within our university's Faculty of Medicine.

Our department plans activities to fulfill the tasks of education, research and development, application, and community services.

As the Department of Biostatistics, we conduct continuous research and develop advanced undergraduate and graduate education programs.

We aim to enhance our international competitiveness by developing new methodology projects.

In our Faculty of Medicine's Computer Laboratory with a capacity of 30 computers, Biostatistics undergraduate courses are taught with practical applications. Each student spends at least 4 hours individually at the computer during these courses.

We provide Biostatistics consulting services for scientific research conducted in the field of health sciences. On average, we offer consulting services for about 250 theses and scientific research projects annually.

Through joint research with clinical sciences and other disciplines, we contribute to the importance of Biostatistics and the acceptability of our work in international journals.

We emphasize the importance of theoretical and applied Biostatistics education at our university and the necessity of Biostatistical controls to enhance the international competitiveness of scientific research.

Our collaborative work so far has shown that the use of Biostatistical terminology at every step, from the planning stage to the reporting stage of a scientific study, significantly enhances its scientific strength.

Our department faculty members also provide undergraduate education in Dentistry Faculty, Pharmacy Faculty, and Health Vocational School, and offer theoretical and applied graduate courses at the Institute of Health Sciences.
