Department of Medical Biology

Dicle University Department of Medical Biology was established in 1967 as the Biology Department of Diyarbakır Medical Faculty under Ankara University. In 1974, it merged with the Genetic Department and continued its activities under the name of Medical Biology. After the establishment of the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) in 1981, the department's name was changed to Medical Biology Department according to the YÖK Law, encompassing the disciplines of Medical Biology, Medical Genetics, and Biostatistics. Later on, the Biostatistics discipline separated from the Department of Medical Biology. Our Department of Medical Biology maintains its structure, covering the fields of Medical Biology and Medical Genetics.

    • Peripheral blood culture and chromosome analysis
    • Bone marrow chromosome analysis
    • Amniotic cell culture and chromosome analysis
    • Chorionic villus sampling (CVS) material, miscarriage material, and cell culture, and chromosome analysis in various solid tissues
    • Chromosome analysis in cord blood (Cordocentesis)
  • Molecular Cytogenetics
  • Molecular Genetics
