Department of Infectious Diseases and Clinical Microbiology

The Department of Infectious Diseases and Clinical Microbiology at Dicle University Faculty of Medicine was established in 1993 with the transfer of students from Ankara University Faculty of Medicine to Diyarbakır. The department is involved in the diagnosis and treatment of infectious diseases, the prevention of hospital-acquired infections, and the diagnosis and treatment of patients with suspected infections in other clinics (including both inpatient and intensive care unit patients). Additionally, all infectious diseases are followed up and treated in the outpatient clinic.

The department has been chaired by Prof. Dr. Celal Ayaz from 1993 to 2011, Prof. Dr. Salih Hoşoğlu from 2011 to 2015, Prof. Dr. Saim Dayan from 2015 to 2017, and Prof. Dr. Celal Ayaz from 2017 to June 2018. Currently, the department is chaired by Prof. Dr. Salih Hoşoğlu.
