Department of Medical Biochemistry

The Department of Biochemistry at Dicle University Faculty of Medicine was established by Prof. Dr. Ali Açıkgöz in 1969. From 1978 to 1989, the department was led by Prof. Dr. Güneri Erdem. After Prof. Dr. Güneri Erdem's passing in 1989, the department was successively chaired by Prof. Dr. Turhan Özden (1989-1996), Prof. Dr. Belkıs Aydınol (1996-1999), Prof. Dr. Nuriye Mete (1999-2002), and Prof. Dr. Naime Canoruç (2002-2011). Currently, the department is headed by Prof. Dr. Nuriye Mete.

The department provides medical biochemistry courses to medical faculty students. Additionally, it offers postgraduate education in the field of medical biochemistry. The department has trained 50 medical biochemistry specialists, 15 Ph.D. students, and 8 master's students.
