Department of General Surgery

In 1969, the General Surgery Department was established under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Asım Duman at Ankara University Faculty of Medicine and began its services in the building that is currently used as the Oral and Dental Diseases Hospital. In 1974, with the establishment of Dicle University, the department continued its services under this university at the same location. In 1982, it was relocated to its current location, which is now known as Dicle University Faculty of Medicine Hospital. It continues to serve a large area, including neighboring provinces, at the same site. Throughout its establishment, professors such as Dr. Mustafa Türeli, Dr. Bülent Alıç, Dr. İsmail Kayabalı, Dr. Mehmet Gürel, Dr. Yılmaz Akgün, Dr. Nedim Aban, and Dr. Şükrü Boylu have provided their services to our clinic and some of them have moved on to other positions over time. Until today, over 100 General Surgery Specialists have completed their specialization training in our clinic. We currently have 66-bed wards and a 25-bed intensive care unit in our clinic. Services are provided by 11 faculty members and 6 research assistants.
