Department of Radiation Oncology

The Department of Radiation Oncology at Dicle University Faculty of Medicine opened its first Assistant position in 1989 and its respective Assistants started their training at Istanbul University Institute of Oncology. In 1994, the foundations of the Radiation Oncology treatment unit were laid, and the Radiotherapy unit, consisting of a Linear Accelerator Co-60 and a Simulator for treatment planning, started accepting its first patients from August 2001. On October 20, 2014, the department began providing services with the TomoTherapy device. Our department's first and founding faculty member is Assistant Prof. Dr. S. Burhanedtin ZİNCİRCİOGLU.

The Department of Radiation Oncology at Dicle University Faculty of Medicine is also of special importance as it is the first Radiation Oncology treatment unit established in the Southeastern Anatolia Region of Turkey.
