Department of Anatomy
Dicle University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Anatomy was established for the first time in 1969, along with the establishment of the Faculty of Medicine, under the name of "Anatomy Chair."
In the early days, lectures were given by guest faculty members such as Prof. Dr. Kaplan ARINCI and Prof. Dr. Yaşar KUYUCU. The first chairman of the Anatomy Chair was Prof. Dr. Turgut VARDAR, and the first assistants of the chair were Ahmet ÇİMEN, Tahir HATİPOĞLU, and Ramazan DEMİR. After the departure of Prof. Dr. Turgut VARDAR, the chairmanship was assumed by Prof. Dr. Asım DUMAN, who was a faculty member in the Department of Surgery. During this period, H. Basri TURGUT, E. Savaş HATİPOĞLU, and Şükrü DOĞRUYOL served as assistants.
In 1982, with the enactment of the YÖK (Higher Education Council) laws, chairs were abolished in universities, and the Department of Morphology was restructured. Within this department, there were branches of Anatomy and Histology-Embryology. The chairmanship of the Department of Morphology was held by Prof. Dr. İbrahim AYKAÇ. After Prof. Dr. İbrahim AYKAÇ retired, Prof. Dr. H. Basri TURGUT was appointed as the head of the Department.
After a while, a legal change led to the reestablishment of the Anatomy Department. During this process, Ayda DEMİRANT, Mustafa USBEKANOĞLU, Orhan TACAR, Vatan KAVAK, and M. Cudi TUNCER joined the Department as assistants.
In 1994, when Prof. Dr. H. Basri TURGUT left our university, Prof. Dr. E. Savaş HATİPOĞLU was appointed as the head of the Department of Anatomy. During this period, many assistants joined the department through the TUS (Medical Specialty Entrance Examination). Among them, Dr. Piraye KERVANCIOĞLU and Dr. Özlen KARABULUT completed their specialization training in the Department of Anatomy.
Since May 25, 2015, Prof. Dr. M. Cudi TUNCER has been appointed as the head of the Department, and he continues to serve in this position.
