Department of Biostatistics
GENERAL INFORMATION
Dicle University Faculty of Medicine, Biostatistics department was founded in 1969 with the transfer of students from Ankara University Faculty of Medicine to Diyarbakır. For the first time in our country, the Biostatistics Department was established within a Faculty of Medicine in our university.
In 2009, the Department's name was changed to “Biostatistics and Medical Informatics”.
The department of Biostatistics and Medical Informatics performs the following functions which have become almost standard throughout the world:
1-Trainig-Educational Activities cover undergraduate, graduate and in-service education.
2-Research-Development Activities aim to provide statistical consultancy services for health researchers, to make joint projects and publications with healthcare professionals and to develop biostatistical methods applied to health sciences.
3-Medical Informatics Activities aim to develop new models for information technologies and hospital services by using medical studies (diagnosis, treatment), education, communication, data and information collection, data and information processing, managing information, medical decision making and scientific analysis methods.
