History
Our department was established in the 1971-1972 academic year as a part of Diyarbakır Education Institute. In 1982, following the decision of the Higher Education Council (YÖK) to incorporate teacher training institutions into universities, it became part of Dicle University under the Faculty of Education. Initially located at the Faculty of Education building on İstasyon Street, our department later moved to Dicle University campus and operated within the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture building for a while. After the completion of Ziya Gökalp Faculty of Education building, it moved to its new location.
Our department consists of three main branches: English Language Education, German Language Education, and French Language Education. Since 1999, we have been offering master's education under the Social Sciences Institute. Currently, our master's programs in English Language Education and French Language Education are conducted under the Institute of Educational Sciences.
