Department of French Language Teaching

The Department of French Language Teaching commenced its educational activities in 1971-1972 and has been affiliated with Dicle University's Faculty of Education since 1982. Currently, our department comprises 1 professor, 1 doctoral faculty member, 1 lecturer, and 1 research assistant.

Our undergraduate program spans 5 years, providing a valid Bachelor's degree in French Language Teaching.

Graduates from our program have access to diverse job opportunities. Successful candidates in KPSS can work as French Teachers in primary and secondary schools and other educational institutions affiliated with the Ministry of National Education, where French is taught as the first or second foreign language. Some graduates choose to pursue academic careers as Instructors or Research Assistants in various universities.

Our program aims to train competent French teachers for various educational settings. We offer courses at both undergraduate and graduate levels, focusing on enhancing students' theoretical and practical knowledge, as well as their language skills. Our curriculum introduces the latest methods and techniques in the field and encourages students to conduct scientific research in language education and literature.

The Erasmus partners of the program are Masaryk University (Czech Republic) and Haute Ecole Charlemagne (Belgium).

Research in the department covers various areas, including Language teaching, Literature and literature teaching, Linguistics, Culture and language teaching, Lexicology, Translation and language teaching, and Material development and adaptation.

Students benefit from access to libraries and computer laboratories. Our classrooms are equipped with air-conditioning and smart boards for enhanced learning experiences.

Master's Program

The Master's Program with Thesis in French Language Teaching welcomes applicants with a bachelor's degree from one of the following fields:

  • French Language Teaching
  • French Language and Literature
  • French Linguistics
  • French Translation and Interpreting

To attain the master's degree in French Language Teaching, students must successfully complete the compulsory and elective courses, as well as defend their thesis. Eligibility for the thesis defense requires meeting the criteria set by the Institute of Educational Sciences, which includes the publication of research in accordance with the institute's guidelines.
