German Preparatory Class

German Language Teaching Department Preparatory Exemption Exam

All newly enrolled students are required to take the Preparatory Exemption Exam and score 60 or above before starting their undergraduate studies in German Language Teaching. The exam assesses German vocabulary, grammar, and reading skills through multiple-choice or fill-in-the-blank questions. Additionally, students are required to write a text in German on a given topic. Successful candidates can begin their undergraduate studies immediately.

German Language Teaching Program Preparatory Exemption Requirements

To qualify for exemption, students must meet one of the following conditions:

  • Obtain a score of 60 or above in YDS, YÖKDİL, or equivalent exams in German language.
  • Achieve a score equivalent to 60 points from TestDaF, DSD II, TELC Deutsch, or Goethe Institut exams, as per YÖK Foreign Language Exams Equivalency Table.
  • Have completed at least the last three years of secondary education in a country where German is spoken as the mother tongue, at institutions attended by citizens of that country.

Applicants who fulfill any of the above criteria may apply for exemption by submitting a petition and necessary documents to the Dean's Office of Ziya Gökalp Faculty of Education.
