Structural Engineering Division

Structural Engineering Division

The Structural Engineering Division is one of the principal academic disciplines within civil engineering and is responsible for education, research, and professional activities related to the analysis, design, and behavior of structural systems in buildings and various engineering structures. The Division aims to equip students with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills while fostering analytical thinking and the ability to develop effective solutions to engineering challenges.

Within the scope of its educational activities, the Division focuses on the structural behavior, design principles, and performance of various structural systems, including reinforced concrete, steel, timber, and composite structures. Particular emphasis is placed on evaluating the performance of structures under static and dynamic loads, as well as analyzing the effects of external actions such as earthquakes and wind.

The curriculum covers advanced construction materials, structural analysis methods, structural statics, computer-aided design techniques, and performance-based design approaches. In addition, sustainable design principles, energy efficiency, life-cycle assessment of structures, and modern construction technologies constitute important components of the educational program.

Research activities within the Division focus on earthquake engineering, structural dynamics, concrete technology, high-performance materials, composite structural systems, structural performance assessment, and strengthening and rehabilitation of existing structures. Through nationally and internationally funded research projects and scientific studies, the Division contributes to the advancement of structural engineering knowledge and disseminates its findings through academic publications and professional engineering applications.
