Biology Education
Department of Mathematics and Science Education - Biology Education Division aims to meet the need for biology teachers in secondary education institutions and provide activities for those who aspire to pursue an academic career in this field at universities. The biology teacher education program offers undergraduate education to students placed through the Student Selection and Placement Examination (LYS) MF2 score, with a duration of 4 years. Courses are conducted on a semester basis. In addition to compulsory subject courses, elective courses are available, catering to students' interests and abilities in both the field and general culture. Theoretical courses are supported with practical applications in laboratories. Applied and up-to-date information is provided in computer courses, and computer laboratories are utilized for computer-based work. Moreover, for teacher training, students participate in one term of school experience and one term of teaching practice at secondary education schools to improve their skills.
Students who wish to engage in academic work have the opportunity to pursue postgraduate studies. After obtaining sufficient scores from the Academic Personnel and Graduate Education Entrance Exam (ALES) and the Foreign Language Exam, students can apply to the Institute of Science and the Institute of Educational Sciences. Upon successful completion of subject knowledge exams, they can enroll in postgraduate programs (Master's and/or Ph.D.) and pursue an academic career. Furthermore, graduates from the Biology Education Division can work as teachers in public or private schools.
