Department of Radio, Television and Cinema
The introduction of digital technologies in the production of media content has led to a significant transformation in how we evaluate radio, television broadcasting, and cinema. The increasing interactive possibilities of mass communication platforms have allowed viewers to consume content independent of time and place, necessitating the adaptation of broadcasting and cinema to new conditions. However, there is also a need to assess the artistic and aesthetic aspects of radio, television, and cinema content creation in alignment with the opportunities brought forth by new technologies.
The emergence of interactive internet platforms, known as new media, has made it essential to combine the technical and aesthetic expertise of traditional media with the compatible use of new technologies in presenting audio-visual content. The Department of Radio, Television, and Cinema at Dicle University aims to educate competent individuals who understand the fundamentals of mass communication, can utilize the opportunities provided by interactive internet media, and have embraced the aesthetics of radio, television, and cinema.
Throughout the four-year undergraduate program, students are trained to effectively use the possibilities offered by new media with the necessary aesthetic and technical knowledge. The Department aims to contribute qualified and expert professionals to the media industry by providing students with practical opportunities, supporting academic knowledge with hands-on training, and preparing them for success in the field.
Our department will offer a four-year undergraduate program that encompasses fundamental and applied knowledge in the fields of radio, television, and cinema. Through the establishment of practical units, students will have the opportunity to prepare and present their own programs, gaining hands-on experience in media content production and acquiring skills in using professional equipment employed in the industry.
The admission process for the Radio, Television, and Cinema Department will be based on the Verbal score of the Higher Education Institutions Exam (YKS). During the first two years of the four-year program, students will take common compulsory courses and fundamental courses related to the department. In the third and fourth years, they will have the flexibility to choose elective courses based on their areas of interest. These elective courses will equip students with the knowledge and skills to create content for radio, television, cinema, and social media platforms. Upon graduating, students will be well-versed in radio broadcasting and production, television broadcasting and production, and film-making, and will be capable of working in various domains of the media industry.
