Department of Public Relations and Publicity

Brief History

Faculty of communication, in accordance with Law No. 2809 dated 30 28/03/1983 additional 27505 published in the official gazette dated 26 February 2010 by the Council of ministers was established by the decision in the academic year 2016-2017 2010/103 just after the placement of our department began teaching its first students with training 40. In the 2019-2020 academic year, it had its first graduates. The total number of registered students in our department is 323 and there are 1 Professor, 2 Associate Professors, 2 Lecturers Dr.

Undergraduate Program General Information and Admission Requirements

Our department offers a four-year undergraduate education that includes basic and applied knowledge in the field of Public Relations and Advertising. For the undergraduate curriculum, approximately 60 students are accepted each year based on their Verbal scores in the YKS exam. In the first two years of the four-year education, common compulsory courses and the basic courses related to the department are compulsory, while in the 3rd and 4th years, the students are offered the opportunity to choose optional courses according to their interests.

The language of education of our department is 100% Turkish.

Acceptance of Students

For student admission to the program, to be a high school or high school equivalent vocational school graduate; Having the right to enroll in the units of the University in the relevant academic year as a result of the diploma equivalence of graduates of foreign high schools approved by the Ministry of National Education, the exams conducted by OSYM or the placement of students to be taken from abroad within the scope of the principles determined by the Senate, It is obligatory to have the valid points and conditions determined by the relevant boards, to have the right to final registration as a result of the evaluation, and to fulfill the obligations, if any, regarding the student contribution or tuition fee.

Program Achievements and Outcomes

In the Department of Public Relations and Publicity, it is aimed that students will be trained as professionals who can respond to the needs of the age in areas such as public relations, promotion, advertising, traditional and digital marketing, media planning, brand management by making use of related disciplines, especially communication. Within the framework of this purpose, the outputs of the Program are as follows.

Knowledge Level

  • Being able to carry out communication campaigns with the awareness of individual and corporate social responsibility, preparing sponsorship projects, creating and implementing advertising campaigns, analyzing advertisements, producing for traditional media and new media environments, being able to engage in political activities with knowledge in the field of political communication and diplomacy, etc. To be able to carry out all kinds of communication works in the field of public relations.
  • Having the ability to express theoretical and practical knowledge in the field of Public Relations and Publicity.
  • To be able to carry out studies in accordance with the laws, regulations and legislation, together with the ethical codes related to the field of Public Relations and Publicity.

Skill Level

  • To be able to use the methods, tools and technologies related to the field of Public Relations and Publicity competently.
  • To be able to comprehend the basic concepts of the discipline of public relations and other related disciplines and to establish their connections with the discipline of public relations.

Ability to Work Independently and Take Responsibility

  • To be able to comprehend qualitative and quantitative researches used in communication researches and their features and to have the ability to conduct research.
  • Having the ability to rearrange the knowledge in other disciplines in the field of social sciences in a form that can be used in their own field when necessary.

  • To have the ability to empathize, to make presentations in front of the community, to contribute to the studies by taking part in teamwork and to contribute to the solution of the problems encountered.
