HISTORY
Dicle University was established with the founding of the Medical Faculty affiliated with Ankara University in 1966, and the opening of the Faculty of Science in 1973. It was initially named University of Diyarbakır and then renamed Dicle University in 1982.
Dicle University, which is dedicated to the production, utilization, and serving the knowledge for the benefit of humanity in local, regional, and global contexts, has not only been a university serving the region in the past years but has also gained strength through its achievements in the international arena.
Today, with its 15 faculties equipped with modern facilities that provide all the necessary resources from A to Z for students and academics, 12 Vocational Schools with technical equipment, 4 Schools, 1 Conservatory, 4 Institutes, 30 Application and Research Centers, an Education and Research Hospital, an Oncology Hospital, a Children's Hospital, a Burn Center, and the largest Cardiology Hospital in the Middle East, Acute Trauma Center - which is the first of its kind in Turkey - built independently from the hospital building and serves as a model for the entire country, it has become an internationally competent university in scientific and academic terms.
Dicle University Science and Technology Research and Application Center (DÜBTAM), which is a part of Dicle University and has an accreditation certificate, serves as a scientific research, training and reliable measurement center for researchers working in universities, government institutions and industry. Within this center, devices using advanced technologies are offered to the service of the world of science and industry by experts in their fields. The center has many laboratories that will provide services in the fields of physics, chemistry, biology, engineering sciences, health sciences, material sciences, quality control and calibration. In addition, Dicle TEKNOKENT, which is located within the University and has an area of 6500 square meters, impresses with its R&D innovation, software and academician companies.
The congress center within the university, which has 5 separate halls, the largest of which has a capacity of 1500 people, and a wireless simultaneous system that can translate in 6 languages, hosts many scientific, cultural and artistic organizations both nationally and internationally. In addition to these, Dicle University has all the necessary facilities for social and scientific activities with conference halls, student cafeterias, student canteens, indoor and outdoor seating areas, and sports fields where students can relieve their stress.
Dicle University Central Library has an indoor area of 5000 square meters and offers access to visual, audio, printed and electronic resources that students, researchers and academicians need.
The accommodation needs of students studying at Dicle University are met by dormitories belonging to the Higher Education Student Loans and Dormitories Institution and other private organizations both on and off campus.
Dicle University has approximately 30 thousand students and around 3600 academic and administrative staff. It is one of the most important institutions of our state in the region, which trains professionals in almost every field needed in the region, conducts research at national and international level and produces projects for the economy of both the region and the country.
