Prof. Dr. Vahap ÖZPOLAT
BIOGRAPHY
He graduated from Dicle University, Siirt School of Education in 1984. In 1996, he completed his bachelor's degree in Educational Administration and Supervision at Yüzüncü Yıl University, Faculty of Education.
He received his Master’s degree in Sociology from Sakarya University between 1996 and 1998, and completed his doctoral studies (Ph.D.) in Sociology at Istanbul University between 1998 and 2002.
He was awarded the title of Associate Professor by the Interuniversity Board (ÜAK) in 2014. In 2019, he was appointed to the position of Professor at Mardin Artuklu University, attaining the rank of Full Professor.
Prior to his academic career, he served in various roles across different provinces, including teacher, school principal, and primary education inspector. Within the Ministry of National Education (MEB), he held the positions of Head of the Department of Publications and Culture, Head of the Department of Education, Training, and Curricula, Board Member of the Board of Education and Discipline (Talim ve Terbiye Kurulu), and Deputy Chairman of the Board of Education and Discipline. At Mardin Artuklu University, he served as department chair, advisor to the rector, institute director, dean, and vice rector.
He has conducted academic research and lectured on topics including sociology, social work, education, teacher training, curricula, family, youth, children, migration, violence, social risk, the culture of cohabitation, democracy, human rights, and citizenship. Prof. Dr. Vahap ÖZPOLAT, who was appointed as the Dean of our faculty on October 11, 2022, also concurrently serves as the Chair of the Department of Social Work at Dicle University, Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences.
