HISTORY
The Faculty of Engineering and Architecture was established in 1984 at Dicle University. Two departments started to operate, namely the Architecture department in Diyarbakır and the Civil Engineering department in Şanlıurfa. The Department of Architecture started to serve in the building allocated by the first Directorate of Public Works. In the academic year of 1986-1987, it was moved to the area allocated to it in the Faculty of Arts and Sciences. It has been serving in the building where it moved to the campus since 1992. Due to the establishment of Harran University, the existing Civil Engineering department was connected to Harran University. Mining Engineering department was opened together with Civil Engineering department in Diyarbakir. In the 1993-1994 academic year, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering was opened in addition to these departments. In 1996, with the approval of the Faculty Administrative Board, the University Senate and the approval of the Council of Higher Education, the Department of Electrical Engineering was changed to the Department of Electrical-Electronics Engineering. In 2010, the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture was structured as two separate faculties as the Faculty of Engineering and the Faculty of Architecture, following the decisions of the Faculty Administrative Board, the University Senate and the approval of the relevant ministries by the YÖK Presidency. The proposal to open a Computer Engineering Department within the Faculty of Engineering was approved at the Higher Education Executive Board meeting dated 28.04.2010. The Department of Biomedical Engineering was opened in 2017. Postgraduate education is given in the departments of Electrical-Electronics, Civil, Mechanical and Mining Engineering. In addition, in 2010, it was deemed appropriate to open a PhD program in Electrical-Electronics and Civil Engineering Departments.
