What is Erasmus+ Internship Mobility Program?

The Erasmus+ Internship Mobility Program, in short, is the opportunity for students to gain work experience in a foreign enterprise related to their field of vocational education. The internship activity is not expected to be mandatory for the student's diploma program. The duration of the activity can vary between 2 and 12 months, depending on the educational level.

What are the Suitable Institutions/Organizations for Internship?

The institution where the internship will be carried out must be relevant to the field of study of the student. Based on these criteria, internship activities can be conducted in the following institutions/organizations:

  • Companies
  • Training Centers
  • Research Centers
  • Other Organizations

However, European Union institutions, EU agencies, institutions receiving grants within the scope of EU programs, and diplomatic Turkey representations in the host country are not suitable institutions for internship.

What are the Evaluation Criteria?

The evaluation is based on 55% of the student's Overall Academic Grade Point Average and 45% of the Foreign Language Score. Placement is determined by the Erasmus Coordinator based on the calculated ranking scores and student preferences.

Selection Process

The department quotas may vary each year depending on the budget allocated to our university by the National Agency. Placement is made starting from the most successful student based on the quotas. The selection results, consisting of the main and substitute students, are announced by the Erasmus Coordinator. In case the students in the main list waive their rights or if additional grants are allocated to our university by the National Agency and our agreement quota allows, the substitute students are moved to the main list starting from the most successful ones. If a student selected as an Erasmus student decides to waive their rights for any reason, they must inform the Erasmus Coordinator by submitting a written request.

You Have Been Selected as an Erasmus Student, What Should You Do?

There are certain procedures that selected students need to complete for the Erasmus Program. It is recommended to complete these procedures early. These procedures include:

  • Requesting the original (wet-signed) Acceptance Letter from the host institution. This document is required for obtaining a visa.
  • Contacting the host institution and submitting the Acceptance Letter to the Erasmus Coordinator by the specified date (initially, a scanned or faxed copy of the acceptance letter is sufficient, but it should clearly state that you have been accepted within the scope of the Erasmus Placement Program, and the dates of your internship should be indicated).
  • Preparing the Learning Agreement for Traineeships in three original copies and having it signed by the department coordinator. Then, submit the signed copies to the Erasmus Coordinator for final signature (the original document must be included in the student's file, but if it is not required by the consulate for visa purposes, a scanned copy with the host institution's approval can be submitted. In this case, the student must submit the original document to the Erasmus Coordinator no later than their return from abroad).
  • Checking if you have a passport, and if you do, ensuring that its validity is sufficient.
  • Making an appointment with the consulate for visa application and preparing the necessary documents.
  • Obtaining health, liability, and accident insurance, and submitting a copy of the policies to the Erasmus Coordinator (health insurance requirements may vary depending on the countries. A suitable choice is made according to the rules set by the country and university you will be visiting).
  • Opening a non-interest-bearing Euro account at Vakıfbank Dicle University Branch. Submit a photocopy of your account statement to the Erasmus Coordinator. If possible, the account can also be opened from abroad, and a joint account can be opened or internet banking can be used.
  • Applying to the Erasmus Coordinator for the preparation of the Grant Agreement along with providing a notarized power of attorney for banking and other transactions. The transfer can be made to a joint account or to an account opened by a family member.
  • Submitting the Return Documents, such as the Confirmation Letter, Outgoing Student Report, and Passport, to the Erasmus Coordinator within 30 days after the return date.
