Our Faculty was established with the Law No. 3837 dated 11.017.1992 and started giving education in the 1993-1994 academic year by admitting its first students. When it was first established, it began its activities in an area that would be half of a corridor in the Faculty of Dentistry. In 2001, the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine moved to its existing building. There are 5 Departments and 20 programs connected to these departments.
Our faculty continuously develops itself to be a faculty that foresees and solves all problems in the field of Veterinary Medicine, that educates, researches, produces information, that is shown as an example and is honoured to be a member of. It has committed itself to carry out the responsibility of conducting research and contributing it to the society in the best way at universal standards, to establish the balance between the animals that are an indispensable element of humanity and nature, their health, rights, and productivity, to access to information for environmental safety, to produce information, apply, and spread it. While working to be a faculty that constantly renews itself in order to reach international standards in education, it also continues its education and research tasks to solve animal husbandry problems of our region and our country and to find solutions to basic scientific problems.
Our faculty, which has adopted a student-centered and educational approach that produces solutions to problems, continuously strives to use its sources to increase the quality of its education and create the physical infrastructure that will contribute to the development of our students in the professional field as well. For this purpose, the limited opportunities of the Faculty are used in the best way. It continues to work without interruption to protect animal health and increase productivity, to contribute to the solution of issues such as healthy animals, healthy food, healthy people and public health problems, and to become a more preferred Faculty of Veterinary Medicine.

Curriculum Vitae of the Dean;
He was born in Diyarbakır in 1967. He completed his primary education at Diyarbakır Yenişehir Primary School in 1979. He started his secondary education at Ziya Gökalp High School in Diyarbakır and completed it in 1984. In 1984, he entered the Biology Department of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences at Dicle University. After studying in this department for a year, he was admitted to Fırat University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. He graduated from Fırat University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in 1990.
In 1992, he started to work at Dicle University Faculty of Arts and Sciences as a member of expert staff. In the same year, he was appointed to Dicle University Health Sciences Research and Application Center (DÜSAM), which was established within the University.
In 1992, he passed the Ph.D. exam at the Graduate School of Health Sciences of Dicle University and started his education in the Department of Histology and Embryology.
In 1994, he was appointed as a research assistant to the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Department of Histology and Embryology.
He completed his PhD in Histology and Embryology on 20.10.1996. On 20.05.1997, he was appointed as assistant professor at the Department of Histology and Embryology of Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Dicle University.
In 2004, he received the title of Associate Professor of Veterinary Histology and Embryology. On 01.03.2011, he was appointed as professor in the Department of Histology and Embryology, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Dicle University.
Professor Dr. M. Aydın KETANİ has 80 scientific research articles published in national and international journals and 60 oral and poster presentations presented in national and international congresses. He has supervised three PhD theses. He served in administrative positions in various units of our university.
Professor Dr. M. Aydın KETANİ was appointed as the dean of our faculty on 29.08.2016. He is married with two children.
