Orientation Program Held for First-Year
Students of the Department of English Language and Literature
The Department of English Language and
Literature at Dicle University Sezai Karakoç Faculty of Letters organized an
orientation program to help first-year students of the 2025-2026 academic year
adapt to university life and get acquainted with the institutional structure.
The event began
with an opening speech by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ecevit BEKLER, head of the Department
of Western Languages and Literatures. The program was also attended by the dean
of the faculty Prof. Dr. Ramazan SARIÇİÇEK, who made a motivational speech for
freshmen students, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Selen TEKALP, head of the programme of
English Language and Literature, and lecturers Dr. Eyüp DİLBER, and Hasan
ATSIZ.
During the
orientation, students were provided with practical information about the
institutional framework of the university, academic processes, regulations,
advisory units, Erasmus+ Learning Mobility, and campus facilities. They were
also encouraged to follow the university’s official web pages and social media
accounts to stay updated with announcements and activities.
The program also
featured an informative segment highlighting the academic and professional
prospects of studying English Language and Literature. Students were introduced
to career pathways in the field and the ways in which these opportunities can
be developed during their studies. In addition, official state-supported
digital platforms, student responsibilities, and the procedures related to
academic advising were briefly outlined.
The presentation was delivered by Res.
Asst. Gökçe YETKİN from the Department of English Language and
Literature. The event concluded with a short Q&A session, providing
students with clarifications on academic and institutional matters.
