Library Orientation for the Freshmen
of the Department of English Language and Literature
As
part of the 2025–2026 Academic Year, a Library Orientation Program was
organized for the first-year students of the Department of English Language and
Literature at Dicle University.
The
visit took place under the guidance of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ecevit Bekler, Head of
the Department, and Research Assistant Gökçe Yetkin, the first-year student
advisor. The session was conducted by Berfin Çetin, a representative of the Ali
Emiri Central Library.
During
the orientation, students were introduced to the services of Ali Emiri Central
Library and Mehmet Esra Cansız Library. The presentation covered the use of
specialized collections, access to the university’s subscribed databases,
catalog search procedures, and reservation systems for the books and the study
desks. Students also received information about the library’s cinema hall and
its usage guidelines.
Following
the presentation, participants toured the library to observe its facilities
first-hand, including reading halls, the cinema hall, the self-checkout machine,
and the circulation desk where borrowing and returning processes are carried

orientation provided new students with valuable insight into the university’s
library system and encouraged them to make effective use of its academic and
cultural resources throughout their studies.
