International Conference on Sustainable Water Management: Science, Policy and Practice (ICOSUWAM-2026)

29 September-2  October 2026, Diyarbakır, Türkiye

The increasing global population and the resulting rise in demand for water and food, coupled with the effects of climate change, have made the agriculture-food-water relationship more critical than ever. In particular, rising temperatures, irregular rainfall patterns, and increasingly frequent droughts, all linked to climate change, necessitate the sustainable management of water resources in both agricultural production and other sectors. In this context, all stakeholders have important roles to play in increasing efficiency across all water-using sectors. The scientific event entitled "International Conference on Sustainable Water Management: Science, Policy and Practice (ICOSUWAM-2026)," hosted by Dicle University, 29 September-2 October 2026, will be of great importance in this regard. The main objective of this event is to share information, discuss developments in water management, and find common solutions to problems at a global level.

Four similar international conferences have been held previously (2012, 2017, 2022, 2023), attracting numerous participants from over 30 countries across 5 continents and providing significant contributions and collaboration opportunities. This important platform will focus on shaping the future of agricultural irrigation and water management, as well as the opportunities offered by digital transformation, and developing and sharing new policies in water management for all sectors. Your knowledge, experience, collaboration, and contributions will strengthen us through the scientific and cultural contributions of this event to us.

The city of Diyarbakır, where this conference will be held, is one of the metropolitan cities of the Southeastern Anatolia Region of Turkiye and also a city with potential in agricultural production and the transformation of production into added value. It is an ancient settlement that has hosted 33 different civilizations for thousands of years, standing out with its historical and cultural continuity. Its location in the Tigris River basin has made the city a strategic production area in terms of agriculture and irrigation throughout history.

Significant advantages and supports (see the registration link, please, https://www.dicle.edu.tr/siteler/icosuwam-2026) have been provided to participants of this international conference, which will be hosted by Dicle University (Diyarbakır, Turkiye).  We eagerly await the opportunity to welcome you to our ancient city, Diyarbakır.
