History

The Dicle University State Conservatory started admitting students in the academic year 2002-2003, following the completion of the academic staff and physical infrastructure. The initial department to commence was the Basic Sciences - the department was renamed to Turkish Music in 2020, following a name change made by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) - department, with a quota of 20 students. Subsequently, in 2005-2006, the Department of Voice Education opened its doors with a quota of 20 students, followed by the Department of Turkish Folk Dances in 2008-2009, with a quota of 30 students. Currently, as of January 2021, the Department of Turkish Folk Dances has 2 faculty members, the Department of Turkish Music has 6 lecturers, and the Department of Voice Education has 5 lecturers, making a total of 13 lecturers.
