Yüzyılın başında Osmanlı Devleti’nin siyasi ve askeri durumu; I. TAR101         Atatürk’s Principles and History of Turkish Revolution I   

In this course, the following information will be provided: Internal and external reasons that prepared the collapse of the Ottoman Empire; Innovation in the Ottoman Empire in the nineteenth century; Intellectual currents in the last period of the Ottoman Empire; At the beginning of the century, the Ottoman Empire political and military situation at the beginning of the twentieth century; World War I and the Armenian issue; The occupation of Anatolia and reactions; Mustafa Kemal Pasha's arrival to Samsun and his activities; congress period and organization;The opening of the last Ottoman Parliament and the acceptance of the National Pact; Preparation for the National Struggle and this preparation’s material and spiritual foundations; Opening and activities of the Turkish Grand National Assembly; Treaty of sevr; Struggles on the Southern and Eastern fronts ; the establishment of the regular army, the Greek offensive and the wars on the Western front, The signing of the Mudanya Armistice, the meeting of the Lausanne Conference and the Peace Treaty signing.

Bu derste, yazı dili ve özellikleri; yazım ve noktalama; yazılı ve sözlü anlatımın özellikleri; paragraf oluşturma ve paragraf türleri (giriş, gelişme, sonuç paragrafları); düşünceyi geliştirme yolları (açıklama, tartışma, öyküleme, betimleme; tanımlama, örneklendirme, tanık gösterme, karşılaştırma vb. uygulamalar); metin yapısı (metnin yapısal özellikleri, giriş-gelişme-sonuç bölümleri); metinsellik özellikleri (bağlaşıklık, tutarlılık; amaçlılık, kabul edilebilirlik, durumsallık, bilgisellik, metinlerarasılık); metin yazma (taslak oluşturma, yazma, düzeltme ve paylaşma); bilgilendirici-açıklayıcı metin yazma; öyküleyici metin yazma; betimleyici metin yazma; tartışmacı ve ikna edici metin yazma ele alınacaktır.

TUR 101        Turkish Language I

In this course, the structure and functioning of Turkish language will be addressed from the perspectives of language and its features; spelling and punctuation; features of written and verbal expression; paragraph creation and paragraph types (introduction, body, conclusion paragraphs); ways of developing thinking (applications of explanation, discussion, narration, description, exemplification, witnessing, comparison and so on); text structure (structural features of the text, introduction-development-conclusion parts); textual features (coherence, consistency, purposefulness, acceptability, situationality, informativeness, intertextuality); text writing (drafting, writing, editing and sharing); writing informative-explanatory text; writing narrative text; writing descriptive text; writing argumentative and persuasive text.

ELL101         İngiliz Edebiyatına Giriş I

Bu ders, özellikle Eski İngilizceye kadar uzanan İngiliz edebiyat tarihine genel bir bakış içerir. Bu ders öğrencilere roman, kısa öykü, drama, düzyazı, şiir ve sözlü gelenekleri içeren çeşitli metin ve türleri çağdaş okuma teknikleriyle birlikte tanıtır. Ders, edebiyat unsurlarını, edebi terimleri ve edebi akımları tanımlayarak, öğrencilerin edebi ve eleştirel analiz, yazma ve araştırma becerilerini geliştirecektir.

ELL101         Introduction to English Literature I

The course includes an overview of particularly British literary history, which dates back to Old English. This course introduces students a variety of texts and genres, including novels, short stories, drama, prose, poetry and oral traditions, together with contemporary techniques for reading them. The course will develop students’ skills in literary and critical analysis, writing, and research by identifying the elements of literature, the literary terms and the literary movements as well.

ELL103         Fonetik

Bu ders öğrencilere seslerin üretimi ve akustik fonetiği tanıtır. Böylece, konuşma aygıtımızın fizyolojik özelliklerinin araştırılması, ses dalgalarının fiziksel özelliklerinin ve bunların dilbilimsel tanımlamada yer alan bileşen parçalarının tartışılması ve çeşitli dillerde seslerin güvenilir bir şekilde tanımlanması, transkripsiyonu ve üretimi ele alınacaktır.

ELL103         Phonetics

This course introduces sudents to the articulatory and acoustic phonetics. Thus, investigation of the physiological properties of our speech apparatus, discussion of the physical properties of sound waves and their component parts that figure in linguistic description and training in reliable identification, transcription and production of sounds in various languages will be dealt with.

ELL105         İngiliz Kültürü I

Bu dersin amacı Büyük Britanya adasının Avrupa kıtasındaki yeri ve önemi, adanın coğrafi, tarihsel ve kültürel yapısı, ülkenin etnik ve dinsel yapısı, günümüz İngiliz ulusu ve İngilizcenin kronolojik gelişimi hakkında bilgi vermektir.

ELL105         British Culture I

This course aims at providing information about the place and importance of the island of Great Britain in the European continent, its geographic, historical and cultural structure, ethnic and religious structure of the country and today's English nation and the chronological development of English language.

ELL107         Kısa Öyküye Giriş

Bu ders, kısa öyküyü 19. ve 20. yüzyıllardan İngiliz ve Amerikan Edebiyatı temsili örneklerin yakın okumaları aracılığıyla bir tür olarak incelemeyi amaçlamaktadır. Kısa öykülerin hem tarihi hem de sosyal bağlamlarının araştırılması ve biçimsel özellikleri dersin temel amacını oluşturur. Ders, teorik tartışmalara kısa bir giriş yaptıktan sonra, kısa öykünün tanımı üzerine, öğrencilerin bireysel metinlerin pratik analizlerini yapmalarını sağlayacaktır.

ELL107         Introduction to Short Story

This course aims to examine the short story as a genre through close readings of representative examples from 19th and 20th century English and American literature. Exploration of both historical and social contexts of the short stories and their formal characteristics constitutes the basic purpose of the course. After a brief introduction to theoretical discussions on the definition of the short story, the course will enable students to engage in practical analyses of individual texts.

ELL109         Mitoloji

Bu ders, mitleri gösterge sistemleri ve edebi, dilsel ve kültürel ürünler olarak inceler. Dersin ilk bölümü eski Mezopotamya, Yunan ve Roma mitlerine odaklanmaktadır. İkinci bölüm, sonraki dönemlerin mitlerine odaklanır ve mit, toplum, dil ve inanç arasındaki ilişkileri araştırır.

ELL109         Mythology

This course studies myths as sign systems and as literary, linguistic and cultural products. The first part of the course concentrates on ancient Mesopotamian, Greek and Roman myths. The second part focuses on the myths of later periods and explores the relations between myth, society, language and faith.

ELL111         Akademik Yazma I

Dersin amacı, öğrencilerin yazılı iletişim becerilerini, ifade birliği, açıklığı ve tutarlılığının yanı sıra argümantasyon, açıklama, karşılaştırma ve karşıtlık biçimlerinde ustalaşmaya özel vurgu yaparak geliştirmektir. Dersin iki önemli bileşeni, kütüphane araştırmasının nasıl yapılacağını ve bir araştırma makalesinin nasıl yazılacağını öğrenmektir. Öğrencilerin performansının değerlendirilmesinde İngilizce yeterliliğine dikkat edilecektir.

ELL111         Academic Writing I

The objective of the course is to enhance students' communicative skills in writing with special emphasis on unity, clarity, and coherence of expression as well as on mastering forms of argumentation, description, comparison and contrast. Two important components of the course are learning how to do library research and how to write a research paper. In evaluating students' performance, attention will be paid to competence in English.

ELL113         Edebiyat ve Dil Öğretimi I

İngiliz ve Amerikan edebiyatı eserlerinden ve orjinalinde yazım dili İngilizce olan eserlerden seçilen kısa hikaye ve roman örnekleri ve bu iki türün diğer türlerden farklı özellikleri; her dil düzeyinde gençler ve yetişkinlerle edebiyat kullanımına değişik yaklaşımlar; edebiyat ve dil öğretiminin bu iki edebi türde (kısa hikaye ve roman) kuram ve uygulama boyutunda bütünlenmesi, edebi metinlerin içerik zenginliği ve dilsel özellikler dikkate alınarak incelenmesi; kültür öğretimi yöntemlerinin kısa hikaye ve roman kullanımı yoluyla belirtilen alanlarda incelenmesi: karşılaştırmalı ve karşıtsal açıdan ana ve erek dil ve kültüründeki nesne ve ürünler; atasözleri ve deyimler, kültürel değerleri taşıyan kalıplaşmış ifadeler; toplumsal yapılar, roller ve ilişkiler; gelenekler/ görenekler/ adetler; inançlar, değerler, yasaklar ve tabular, toplumlara özgü batıl inançlar; siyasi, tarihi ve ekonomik özgeçmiş; kültürel kurumlar; mecazi/ çağrışımsal yan anlam, mizah kullanımı.

ELL113         Literature and Language Teaching I

Example short stories and novels from British and American and those which are originally produced in English; identification of the distinctive features of short stories and novels; different approaches to using literature with teenage and adult learners at all levels; examining ways in which the teaching of literature and language in these two genres (short story and novel), exploring theoretical and practical dimensions of this integration; analysis of literary texts as content and as context; culture teaching through short stories and novel in the following domains: comparison and contrast between objects or products that exist in the target and native culture; proverbs, idioms, formulaic expressions which embody cultural values; social structures, roles and relationships; customs/ rituals/ traditions; beliefs, values, taboos and superstitions; political, historic and economic background; cultural institutions; metaphorical/ connotative meanings, use of humour.

II.                YARIYIL

TAR102         Atatürk İlkeleri ve İnkılap Tarihi II   

Bu ders, öğrencilere Mustafa Kemal Atatürk'ün ilkelerini tam olarak anlayarak modern bir demokratik devlet yaratma süreçleri hakkında fikir vermeyi amaçlamaktadır. Öğrencilere, Osmanlı İmparatorluğu'nun gerileme nedenleri ve reform faaliyetleri, I. Dünya Savaşı'na yol açan süreçte Avrupa'da yaşanan gelişmeler, Ulusal Kurtuluş Savaşı'nın nasıl ve hangi koşullarda kazanıldığı, Lozan Antlaşması'nın sonuçları ve içeriği, yeni Türkiye Cumhuriyeti'nin oluşum sürecinde yaşanan olaylar, Kurtuluş Savaş’ı sonrası siyaset, sosyal ve kültür alanlarında yapılan tüm reformlar olmak üzere birçok konu hakkında detaylı bilgi verilecektir.

TAR102         Atatürk’s Principles and History of Turkish Revolution II      

This course intends to give students insight into the processes of creating a modern democratic state by understanding the principles of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. The students will have a clear understanding of many issues such as the reasons for the decline of the Ottoman Empire and reform activities, developments in Europe in the process that led to World War I, how and in what conditions the Turkish War of Independence was won, the implications and the content of the Treaty of Lausanne, the events in the process of creation of new Republic of Turkey, all reforms in political, social, and cultural fields after National War.

Bu derste, akademik dil ve yazının özellikleri; akademik yazılarda tanım, kavram ve terimlerden yararlanma; nesnel ve öznel anlatım; akademik metinlerin yapısı ve türleri (makale, rapor ve bilimsel özet vb.); iddia, önerme yazma (bir düşünceyi doğrulama, savunma ya da karşı çıkma); bilimsel raporların ve makalelerin biçimsel özellikleri; rapor yazmanın basamakları; açıklama, tartışma, metinler arası ilişki kurma, kaynak gösterme (atıf yapma ve dipnot gösterme, kaynakça oluşturma); başlık yazma, özetleme, anahtar kelime yazma; bilimsel yazılarda dikkat edilecek etik ilkeler; akademik metin yazma gibi uygulamalar ele alınır.

TUR102         Turkish Language II

This course deals with applications such as academic language and features of writing; using definitions, concepts and terms in academic articles; objective and subjective expression; structure and types of academic texts (articles, reports and scientific abstracts, etc.); writing a claim, proposition (confirming, defending or opposing a thought); scientific reports and formal features of articles; steps of writing a report; explanation, discussion, intertext establishing relationships, referencing (citing and footnote, creating references); writing headlines, summarizing, writing keywords; ethical principles to be considered in scientific writings; academic text writing applications.

ELL102 İngiliz Edebiyatına Giriş II

Bu dersin amacı, Erken Modern dönemden yirminci yüzyıla kadar İngiliz Edebiyatının tarihsel, kültürel ve edebi gelişiminin kronolojik çalışmasını sağlamaktır. Bu amaçla, bu ders öğrencilerin herhangi bir edebi metne eleştirel bir yaklaşım kazanmalarına yardımcı olarak öğrencilerin seçilen metinlerin edebi ve dönemsel özelliklerini incelemelerini sağlamayı amaçlamaktadır.

ELL102 Introduction to English Literature II

The aim of this course is to provide chronological study of the historical, cultural and literary development of English Literature from the from Early Modern period to the twentieth century. For this purpose, this course aims to enable students to examine the literary and periodic features of the selected texts by helping students acquire a critical approach to any literary text.

ELL104         Sesbilim

Bu dersin amacı, konuşma süreçlerini incelemek, konuşma seslerinin nasıl üretildiğini, iletildiğini ve algılandığını açıklamak ve belirli dillerdeki ses sistemlerini ve kalıplarını, Türkçe ve İngilizceden yararlanarak ele almaktır. Seslendirme fonetiği ve dinleme ve transkripsiyon becerilerini daha fazla geliştirmek, öğrencilerin konuşma analizi için araçsal teknikleri kullanmalarını sağlamak da bu dersin amaçlarıdır.

ELL104         Phonology

The aim of this course is to study speech processes, to describe how speech sounds are produced, transmitted and perceived and to study systems and patterns of sounds in particular languages, with a specific reference to Turkish and English. To further develop an understanding of articulatory phonetics and listening and transcription skills, to enable students to use instrumental techniques for speech analysis are also the objectives of this course.

ELL106         İngiliz Kültürü II

Bu dersin amacı, öğrencilerin hem tarihsel hem de çağdaş toplumdaki İngiliz kültürüne ilişkin farkındalığını artırmak ve öğrencileri siyaset, medya, sosyal sınıflar, gençlik kültürleri ve müzik açısından İngiliz kültürünün temel yönleri hakkında bilgilendirmektir. İngiliz kültürünün siyaset, medya, sosyal sınıflar, gençlik kültürleri açısından önemli yönleri incelenmekte ve tartışılmaktadır.

ELL106         British Culture II

The aim of this course is to increase students’ awareness of British culture both historically and in contemporary society, and acquaint students with the major aspects of British culture with respect to politics, media, social classes, youth cultures and music. Major aspects of British culture with respect to politics, media, social classes, and youth cultures are examined and discussed.

ELL108         Klasik Edebiyat

Klasik edebiyat, Antik Yunan ve Roma medeniyeti temel edebiyat fikrinin orijinini oluşturmaktadır, Bu derste klasik edebiyat okumaları drama, felsefi diyalog, epik, trajedi türlerinin temel özelliklerini incelemeyi hedeflemektedir. Homer, Eflatun, Aristo, Sofakles, Sappho, Ovid, Horace, Euripides, Catullus gibi klasik yazar ve düşünürleri tanımayı ve tartışmayı hedeflemektedir.

ELL108         Classical Literature

Classical literature constitutes the origin of the basic idea of Ancient Greek and Roman civilization literature. In this course, classical literature readings aims to examine the basic characteristics of drama, philosophical dialogue, epic, tragedy genres. It aims to recognize and discuss classical writers and thinkers such as Homer, Plato, Aristotle, Sophocles, Sappho, Ovid, Horace, Euripides, Catullus.

ELL110         Bilgisayara Giriş

Bu dersin amacı öğrencileri bilişim ile ilgili temel kavramlar hakkında bilgi sahibi yapabilmek; öğrencilere bilgisayar donanımı konusunda teorik ve pratik bilgiler vermek; işletim sistemlerinin arayüzlerinin kullanımını öğretmek, kelime işlemci ve sunu programı kullanımını uygulamalı olarak göstermektir.

ELL110         Introduction to Computer

The aim of this course is to provide students with basic concepts of informatics, theoretical and practical knowledge about computer hardware, to teach the use of operating systems' interfaces, vocabulary to demonstrate the usage of processor and presentation program practically.

ELL112         Akademik Yazma II

Bu dersin amacı öğrencilerin, çeşitli kurmaca ve kurmaca olmayan türler üzerine analitik denemeler yazma konusunda yoğun eğitim verilen öğrencilerin yazma becerilerini daha da geliştirmektir. Araştırma ödevi, ders çalışmasının bir parçasıdır.

ELL112         Academic Writing II

The objective of the course is to enhance the writing skills of students who are given intensive instruction in writing analytical essays on various forms of fiction and non-fiction. A research paper is part of the course work.

ELL114         Edebiyat ve Dil Öğretimi II

İngiliz ve Amerikan edebiyatı eserlerinden ve orjinalinde yazım dili İngilizce olan eserlerden seçilen şiir ve tiyatro oyunu örneklerinin analizi ve bu iki türü diğer edebi türlerden ayıran özellikler; edebi metinlerin içerik zenginliğine dikkat çekecek etkinlikler; şiir ve tiyatro oyunu kullanımı ve kültürel öğelerin öğretimi: karşılaştırmalı ve karşıtsal açıdan ana ve erek dil ve kültüründeki nesne ve ürünler; atasözleri ve deyimler, kültürel değerleri taşıyan kalıplaşmış ifadeler; toplumsal yapılar, roller ve ilişkiler; gelenekler/ görenekler/ adetler; inanç, değerler, yasaklar ve tabular, toplumlara özgü batıl inançlar; siyasi, tarihi ve ekonomik özgeçmiş; kültürel kurumlar; mecazi/ çağrışımsal yan anlam, mizah kullanımı.

ELL114         Literature and Language Teaching II

The characteristics of poetry and drama as a literary genre; Example poems and plays from British and American and those which are originally produced in English, approaches to analyzing ways to use contemporary poetry and drama; activities that help students analyze literature as context and as content; teaching of literature and language in these two genres and theoretical and practical dimensions of this integration; teaching cultural and social issues through poetry and drama in the following domains: comparison and contrast between objects or products that exist in the target and native culture; proverbs, idioms, formulaic expressions which embody cultural values; social structures, roles and relationships; customs/ rituals/ traditions; beliefs, values, taboos and superstitions; political, historic and economic background; cultural institutions; metaphorical/ connotative meanings, use of humour

 III.             YARIYIL

ELL201         Ortaçağ İngiliz Edebiyatı

Bu ders, Orta Çağ boyunca farklı toplumlardan İngiliz Edebiyatı içerisindeki kültürel gelişmeleri kapsar. Öğrenciler, hem ortaçağ dünyasını hem de ortaçağ İngiliz Edebiyatını şekillendiren sivil, dini, eğitimsel ve ekonomik kurumların büyümesini çeşitli politik, tarihsel, antropolojik ve edebi perspektiflerden analiz ederler.

ELL201         Medieval English Literature

This course covers cultural developments within English Literature from different socities throughout the Middle Ages focusing mainly on the British Isles from the fifth century to the thirteenth century. Students analyse the growth of institutions, civil, religious, educational and economical, which shaped both the medieval world and medieval English Literature along with the medieval mind from a variety of political, historical, anthropological and literal perspectives.

ELL205         İngiliz Romanının Yükselişi

Bu derste edebi bir tür olarak romanın 18. yüzyılda yükselişi ve gelişimi tarihi, sosyal ve edebi yönleriyle ele alınıp Daniel Defoe, Samuel Richardson ve Henry Fielding’den seçilen romanlar incelenecektir. Ayrıca bu yüzyılda etkili olan “gerçekçilik” akımına değinilecektir.

ELL205         Rise of the English Novel

In this course, the rise and the development of novel in the 18th century as a literary genre will be dealt with and specific novels by Daniel Defoe, Samuel Richardson and Henry Fielding will be studied. In addition, realism as a movement will be mentioned.

ELL207           Çeviri I (İngilizce-Türkçe)

Çeviri I dersinde çeşitli yayınlardan seçilen metinlerin İngilizce’den Türkçe’ye çevrilmesi yoluyla çeviri ile ilgili temel beceriler kazandırılır. Öğrenciler bu derste temel kavramlara ve çevirinin kültürel unsurlarına aşinalık kazanır.

ELL207          Translation I (English-Turkish)

By translating the chosen English texts from various publications into Turkish, basic skills in translation will be gained. Thus the students will be familiar with basic concepts and cultural aspects in the field.

ELL209          Dilbilime Giriş I

Bu derste öğrenciler dilbilim teorisinin gelişimi ve dilbilimi oluşturan sesbilim, morfoloji, anlambilim ve sözdizimi gibi alanlara dair bilgi sahibi olur ve edebiyata yansımalarını inceleme fırsatı bulur.

ELL209          Introduction to Linguistics I

This course is intended to get students to gain knowledge about the development of the theory of linguistics and areas such as phonology, morphology, semantics, and syntax that make up the linguistics. Furthermore, they will be able to analyse the reflection of linguistics into literary texts.

ELL213         İleri Dilbilgisi

Bu dersin amacı, öğrencilerin İngilizce dilbilgisi seviyesini, dilin fonksiyonlarını farklı bağlamlar içerisinde görmek suretiyle ileri düzeye çıkarmaktır. Öğrencilerin ileri düzey dilbilgisi yapılarını tanımaları ve kullanabilmeleri amaçlanmaktadır.

ELL213          Advanced Grammar

The objective of this course is to get the students to reach advanced level in English grammar by getting them to see the functions of the target language within different contexts. Thus they will recognize advanced level grammatical structures and be able to apply them.

ELL215         Yabancı Dil (Fransızca I)

Bu derste, şimdiki zaman; geniş zaman; bu zamanlarda sözel, okuma, yazma ve dinleme becerileri; sözel beceriler (kendini tanıtma, bir şeyi/yeri tarif edebilme, yol tarifi verebilme, kişisel bilgilere yönelik soru ve cevap kalıpları); okuma becerileri (lokantada, otobüs-tren vb. ulaşım araçlarında, alış-veriş yerlerinde liste/etiket okuma, soru sorma vb.); yazma becerileri (kısa mesaj yazma, poster içeriği yazma, form doldurma); dinleme becerileri (yol tarifi, yer/kişi tarifi vb.) verilecektir

ELL215         Foreign Language (French I)

In this course, present tense; verbal, reading, writing and listening skills in that time; verbal skills (introducing oneself, describing something / place, giving directions, question and answer patterns for personal information); reading skills (reading lists / labels in restaurants, buses, trains etc., shopping places, asking questions, etc.); writing skills (text message, poster content, form filling); listening skills (directions, place / person description etc.) will be provided.

IV.             YARIYIL

ELL204           20. Yüzyıl Şiiri

Bu derste, 20. yüzyılın 19. yüzyıldan sosyo-kültürel açıdan farklarına değinilecek, 20. yüzyılın önde gelen şairlerinden Thomas Hardy, A.E. Housman, T. S. Eliot, Ezra Pound, W. B. Yeats, Dylan Thomas, Philip Larkin, Stevie Smith, Ted Hughes ve Seamus Heaney’nin seçilen şiirlerinin yanısıra I. Dünya Savaşı ve II. Dünya Savaşı şair ve şiirlerine de yer verilecektir.

ELL204          20th Century Poetry

The aim of this course is to examine in detail the contemporary English novel in the light of the postmodernism movement, which began to affect literature since the second half of the twentieth century. In this course, students are introduced to concepts such as metafiction, intertextuality, parody, pastiche, collage, which are the basic elements of postmodern novel, and have the opportunity to examine the works of leading postmodern writers.

This course is an introduction to systemic functional linguistics (SFL) theory and provides a detailed overview of different components of systemic functional linguistics. Systemic functional linguistics deals with how language is used. Students learn to analyze spoken and written language and associate linguistic expression with meaning.

Bu derste öğrenciler New Historicism/Cultural Studies, Post-Colonial Criticism, Feminist Criticism, Gender/Queer Studies, Critical Race Theory, Critical Disability Studies gibi eleştiri akımları aracılığıyla İngiliz Edebiyatı’ndan seçme eserleri inceler.

ELL402         Literary Theory and Criticism II

In this course, students examine selected works from English Literature through literary criticism movements such as New Historicism / Cultural Studies, Post-Colonial Criticism, Feminist Criticism, Gender / Queer Studies, Critical Race Theory, and Critical Disability Studies.

ELL404         Postkolonyal İngiliz Edebiyatı

Bu derste, sömürgecilik sonrası (postkolonyal) yazın kuramı ve söz konusu yazın ile ilgili bazı anahtar kavramlar ve terimler tanıtılır. Derste incelenecek olan sömürgecilik sonrası döneme ait eserler, İngiliz edebiyatı ve kültürü bağlamında ele alınır. Öğrenciler, sömürgeciliğin altında yatan temel ideolojiler, güç ilişkileri ve sosyal faktörler hakkında bilgi edinir. Ayrıca, bu ders kültürel emperyalizm, ırkçılık, ötekilik, oryantalizm, melezlik, kimlik oluşumu gibi meselelere detaylı bir bakış sunar.

ELL404         Postcolonial English Literature

In this course, the postcolonial theory of literature and some key concepts and terms related to the literature in question are introduced. Postcolonial works that will be examined in the course are handled in the context of English literature and culture. Students learn about the basic ideologies, power relations and social factors underlying colonialism. Additionally, this course provides a detailed overview of issues such as cultural imperialism, racism, otherness, orientalism, hybridity and identity formation.

ELL408         İngiliz Edebiyatında Araştırma Yöntemleri

Bu dersin amacı, öğrencileri edebiyat alanında, bilhassa İngiliz Edebiyatında araştırma yapmak için kullanılan yöntemler ve kaynaklarla tanıştırmaktır. Öğrenciler, edebiyat araştırmalarında ve eleştirisinde nasıl bir yol izleyecekleri ve ne tür yöntemler kullanabilecekleri hakkında fikir sahibi olur. 

ELL408         Research Methods in English Literature

The aim of this course is to introduce students to the methods and sources used for research in the field of literature, especially English Literature. Students will have an idea about how they can examine and what kind of methods they can use in literary research and criticism.

ELL412         Karşılaştırmalı Edebiyat II

Bu derste farklı dillere ve kültürlere ait edebi metinler, edebiyat incelemesinde kullanılan yöntem, teknik ve perspektifler yardımıyla karşılaştırmalı olarak incelenir. Metinler, onları oluşturan olay örgüsü, kişiler, zaman, mekân, anlatıcı ve bakış acısı gibi unsurlardan hareketle yorumlanır.

ELL412         Comparative Literature II

In this course, literary texts belonging to different languages ​​and cultures are analyzed comparatively through methods, techniques and perspectives used in literature analysis. The texts are interpreted based on the elements such as the plot, characters, time, place, narrator and point of view that constitute them.

ELL406         Biçembilim

Biçembilim, edebi eserler başta olmak üzere metinlerin sistematik bir biçimde incelenmesine odaklanır.  Biçembilim çalışmaları, metinlerde kullanılan dilin yanı sıra bu dilin anlam, biçem ve etki yaratma süreçleriyle ilgilenir. Öğrenciler bu derste dilbilimsel seçimlerin metinlerin okunmasını ve yorumlanmasını nasıl etkilediğini keşfeder.

ELL406         Stylistics

Stylistics focuses on the systematic analysis of texts, especially literary works. Stylistics studies deal with the language used in texts and how language contructs meaning, style and effect. In this course, students explore how linguistic choices affect the reading and interpretation of texts.

ELL418         Konuşma Becerileri II

Bu dersin amacı öğrencilerin daha karmaşık konular hakkında akıcı bir şekilde konuşabilmelerini sağlamaktır.  Öğrencilere, kendilerini etkili bir biçimde ifade edebilmesi, doğru vurgu ve tonlamalarla İngilizceyi etkili bir biçimde kullanabilmesi için çalışmalar yaptırılır.

ELL418         Speaking Skills II

The aim of this course is to enable students to speak fluently about more complex topics. The students are given exercises to be able to express themselves effectively and to use English effectively with correct stress and intonations.

Bu dersin amacı öğrencinin bir yabancı dili öğrenmede gerekli olan dört beceride daha ileri bir seviyeye gelmesini sağlamak ve böylece İngilizcenin yanısıra Avrupa’da yaygın bir şekilde konuşulan Fransızca dilinde de sözel ve yazılı iletişim yoluyla çokdilli olmasını sağlamaktır.

The aim of this course is to enable the students to reach a more advanced level in the four skills required to learn a foreign language and thus to be multilingual through verbal and written communication in French, which is widely spoken in Europe.

 ELL424         Almanca IV

Bu dersin amacı öğrencinin bir yabancı dili öğrenmede gerekli olan dört beceride belli bir seviyeye gelmesini sağlamak ve böylece İngilizcenin yanısıra Avrupa’da yaygın bir şekilde konuşulan Almanca dilinde de sözel ve yazılı iletişim yoluyla çokdilli olmasını sağlamaktır.

The aim of this course is to enable the students to reach a certain level in the four skills required to learn a foreign language and thus to be multilingual through verbal and written communication in German, which is widely spoken in Europe.
