          Dicle University was officially founded in 1966, with the establishment of the Faculty of Medicine as part of Ankara University and with the establishment of the Faculty of Science in 1973. It was first named the University of Diyarbakır, and in 1982, the name was changed to Dicle University.

          Dicle University, which undertakes the task of producing, using knowledge, and presenting it to the service of humanity in a local-regional and universal context; In the past years, it has not only been a university serving the region but has also strengthened its strength with its international success. Within its body, today; 15 Faculties with modern structures where students and academicians will need all the facilities from A to Z, 12 Vocational Schools with technical equipment, 4 Schools, 1 Conservatory, 4 Institutes, 30 Practice and Research Centers, Training and Research Hospital, Oncology Hospital, Children's Hospital Burn Center, the Middle East's largest Heart Hospital, all the examples of Turkey and the first built independently of the Traumatology Emergency hospital building complex scientific and academic terms has been a university's international competence.

          Dicle University Science and Technology Research and Application Center (DÜBTAM), which is within the body of Dicle University and has an accreditation certificate, serves as scientific research, education, and reliable measurement center for researchers working in universities, government institutions, and industry. In this center, the devices using advanced technologies are offered to the service of the world of science and industry by experts in their fields. There are many laboratories in the center that will serve in the fields of physics, chemistry, biology, engineering sciences, health sciences, material sciences, quality control, and calibration. In addition, Dicle TEKNOKENT, which has an area of ​​6500 square meters within the University, attracts attention with its service with R&D innovation, software, and academician companies.

          The university has 5 separate halls, the largest of which has a capacity of 1500 people, the conference center with a wireless simultaneous translation system in 6 languages, and many scientific, cultural and artistic organizations both nationally and internationally. In addition to these, Dicle University has all kinds of opportunities for social and scientific activities with its conference halls, student dining halls, student canteens, indoor and outdoor living areas, and sports areas where students can relieve stress.

          Dicle University Central Library has a closed area of ​​5000 square meters and provides access to visual, audio, printed, and electronic resources needed by students, researchers, and academicians.

          The housing needs of students studying at Dicle University are met by the Dormitories of the Credit Dormitories Institution and other private institutions both on and off-campus.

          Dicle University has approximately 30 thousand students and 3600 academic and administrative staff. It is one of the most important institutions of our state in the region, which trains professionals in almost every field needed in the region, conducts research at the national and international level, and produces projects for both the region and the country's economy.

          Dicle University has determined that it aims to bring the students who are studying in the society as individuals who are equipped with the best professional, innovative, tolerant, and social responsibility awareness.
