History

Silvan Vocational School was established in 2009 with three programs: Child Development, Computer Programming, and Electrical and Energy. In the 2010-2011 academic year, it started its educational activities with only 40 students in the Child Development program through additional placement, and in the 2011-2012 academic year, the Child Development Program II Evening Education was also opened.

While our school provided education and training under the name of Diyarbakır Vocational School between 1985-2002 in the place allocated for our School within the University campus, it moved to the 4th block of the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture in 2002 and continued its activities in the said place until 2013. As a result of the separation of Diyarbakır Vocational School into three separate vocational schools as of June 2013, our school started to serve on the 2nd floor of the Vocational Schools building under the name of "Diyarbakır Vocational School of Agriculture.

On November 22, 2011, thanks to the efforts of Silvan District Governor Mr. Yunus SEZER, the development of Silvan Vocational School gained momentum with the support of Silvan Vocational School Development Association. The Silvan Tobacco Factory Buildings, situated on an area of eight acres and allocated by the district governor, Mr. Yunus SEZER, were assigned to the university. Our association, with the support of all the fellow citizens it could reach, quickly converted these buildings into vocational school through renovation projects. In the 2012-2013 academic year, through additional placement, 50 students were admitted to the Computer Programming program (both first and second shifts) and the Electrical Program (first shift), bringing the total number of students in our vocational school to 300 as of the 2012-2013 academic year. In 2018, with the opening of the Irrigation Technology and Social Services programs, the number of programs offered at our vocational school reached five.
