The research hospital of Dicle University is the biggest health institution of the region that renders education and health service. The hospital, besides its activities of education and research, gives health service to a large region, consisting Batman, Bitlis, Sanliurfa, Siirt, Mardin, Sirnak, Adıyaman, Bingol, Mus, Hakkari and primarily Diyarbakir. The last three years’ health data of the hospital are shown at Table 5.6

        In addition to present units in Research Hospital of Dicle University, new units such as Radiotherapy Unit, Burn Unit, Reanimation Unit,  Orthesis-Prothesis Unit have been opened with the studies in the last two years. Working conditions have been modernized with the increasing capacities of surgical operations and polyclinics and especially in 2002 as a  result of these efforts, an  important increase has been occured both in the number of  patients  and in the rate of occupied bed. These statistical numbers apparently show the increase in quality of health service in hospital.

    Dentistry Faculty of Dicle University is the only academic health institution of its own field in the region which renders service not only in Diyarbakir but also in the surrounding cities and administrative district. There are four professors, five associate professors and fifty five research assistants in the Faculty of Dentistry.
