Department continues under two sub-divisions; Entomology and Phytopathology. Current staff comprises 1 professor, 2 assistant professors and 2 research assistants.
Aims of Plant Protection department are; solving problems of plants within integrated crop and pest management, developing strategies for solving problems of pests, diseases and weeds, producing solutions on residue and toxin problems occurred from wrong pesticides applications. On the other hand, research activities addressed to determine insect fauna of the region and solve pest problems of different crops in the region. Plant pathologists joined to the studies related to plant resistance to diseases as providing artificial inoculation.
