Department of Animal Science

Dicle University Faculty of Agriculture, Department of Animal Science, was established in 1995.

The department is staffed by 2 Professors, 3 Associate Professors, 4 Assistant Professors, and 1 Research Assistant.

The professional essence of Animal Science, as a branch of agricultural engineering, aims to enhance economic, healthy, reliable, and quality animal products by improving the genetic structure and environmental conditions of farm animals, thereby increasing animal production. In line with these principles, activities of the Department of Animal Science encompass education and research in areas such as breeding, improvement, nutrition, and feed technology for economically significant animals.

With undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programs, the Department of Animal Science conducts significant national and international projects primarily to develop livestock farming in the Southeastern Anatolia Region.

Within the Research and Application Unit of the department, the following units are present, where various scientific studies are conducted:

• Egg Production (Poultry Farming),
• Quail Farming,
• Organic Broiler Chicken Farming,
• Cattle Farming,
• Organic Feed Production Facility,
• Organic Goat Farming,
• Apiculture (Beekeeping),
• Biogas Production,
• Feed Analysis and Animal Nutrition Laboratory,
• Animal Husbandry and Physiology Laboratory.

Graduates of the Animal Science Department, holding the title of Animal Scientist Agricultural Engineer, can find employment opportunities in public institutions and organizations affiliated with the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, as well as private sector organizations directly and indirectly involved in animal husbandry.
