Program Introduction

The objective of this program is to provide students with the necessary language skills in order to be successful in academic and business life, to express themselves in different environments where English is used as a means of communication, to exchange information, and to train qualified translators who can make translation in different sectors. Applied English and Translation Program is a two-year associate degree program of Vocational School. The language of instruction is English and one year of English preparatory education is compulsory. In the globalizing world, the importance of translation increases as the relations between countries and cultures increase and the mission of translators becomes more important.

Job Opportunities After Graduation

 

Students who have graduated from the Applied English and Translation program can be employed in translation agencies, public institutions such as Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Culture, Ministry of Tourism; at Embassies, Consulates, Cultural Centres, Hotel and Travel Agencies; for media organs such as publishing houses, magazines, newspapers, Radio, Television and Film Studios; in Foreign Trade, Import and Export departments of international institutions and organizations. In addition, with the DGS (External Transfer Exam) they can transfer to the English Language and Literature, American Culture and Literature, Translation and Interpreting (English), and English Linguistics Programs of the faculties.

Programs for External Transfer

 

Candidates who have successfully completed the associate degree program can transfer to the bachelor’s programs related to their fields provided that they are successful in DGS (External Transfer Exam) exam. In addition, they can transfer directly to the related bachelor’s programs of Open Education Faculties without taking an exam.
